About this deal

If anything, though, you actually see too much detail in dark areas, as you end up noticing noise that the original master was designed to hide. With local dimming disabled, there's a bit of backlight bleed, and the entire screen appears a bit cloudy, but it's not too distracting. There’s also a smart system built around Hisense’s increasingly impressive VIDAA platform, support for Dolby Vision on top of the more standard HDR formats, built-in Dolby Atmos sound, and even a Quantum Dot colour system. The interface is a bit sleeker and more modern, but it performs very similarly to other Google TV and Android TV devices. Or you may prefer to use the VIDAA control app - it duplicates the remote control’s functionality, has a page for apps (and plenty of them), and is clear and logical to use.

Of course, though, as with most TVs’ most extreme, show-off presets, the Dynamic mode has its issues. Discs/circle appeared all over the screen, service - completely useless, they completely ignored me, told me to go to a local service that has a contract with them. The Hisense U7H is a slight improvement compared to its predecessor, the Hisense U7G, but the differences are relatively minor. Finally, it has low input lag and supports every variable refresh rate (VRR) technology, ensuring a responsive, nearly tear-free gaming experience. If you don't care about accuracy, the U7H is a much brighter and more colorful TV with more features for gamers with its two HDMI 2. Just don’t use the built in software for apps or anything, as they run poorly and display incorrectly. It’s also a little less extreme with its colour inconsistencies during dark scenes and doesn’t tend to look as noisy. The image fades and looks washed out as you move even slightly off-center, so it's not a good choice for a wide seating arrangement, as anyone sitting off-center will see a degraded image.

The TCL has much better reflection handling and higher peak brightness, meaning it can handle more glare in a bright room. The bottom edge sports a smart silver, vaguely metallic-looking finish, while the other three edges are exceptionally trim and feature a black finish that again looks too polished to be bog-standard plastic. QLED TVs use quantum dot technology to provide excellent levels of contrast, colour and energy efficiency. Picture quality tests include broadcast 1080i high-definition TV, Freeview, Freeview HD, viewing angle and the stability of motion in fast action scenes.
